Alesha: One in four people have some kind of mental health problem. So all of us must know somebody who ’s been affected. We need to make sure we are really open about it – to make it as easy as we can for people to talk about what they ’re going through.
Sabrina: When I was quite young I found out my uncle had mental health problems. I was really scared by him to start with. But then I began to realise that he had an illness just like any other.
If someone is in mental pain, they need our support. We have to realise how frightening it can be for them.
Alesha: I have seen mental illness in my family and in one of my really good friends. It is really important to imagine being in their situation and try to uplift them. People need to be really open and talk about these things. Talking can be a great healer.
Su-Elise: I guess the key is to try and walk in the other person ’s shoes and imagine what they ’re going through.
Alesha: It is really important that people are aware of what mental illness is as it could happen to anyone of us. It doesn't discriminate by colour, gender or age.
