Everyone has their ups and downs. We all face problems. None of us has the right to judge other people. There ’s still a real prejudice when it comes to people admitting they have a mental health problem. We need to tackle this stigma so people can speak out and get help.

For me, it ’s been important to realise that I need some kind of balance in my life. There have been periods when I have been in a dark place. I was in a bad way during my Police days. I suppose I discovered that success didn't automatically bring happiness. I couldn’t have got through this time without support from my friends and family.

I ’m very lucky because creating music is great therapy in itself and works both sides of the brain. There are lots of other things that I do to help me relax. I ’ve been doing yoga for ten years, which helps me focus my mind. In yoga, you learn that the mind and the body are intrinsically linked. And it ’s essential to keep them both in good shape.
